King Paimon -gnosis and knowledge

About a month ago, I decided to expand on my experience with the Goetia by making contact with some new spirits. I was not interested in manifesting change to my physical environment, which I tend to avoid requesting from demons these days (unless it’s urgent or for protection), but rather to learn more about magick and the illusion of reality.

In addition, I wanted to contact one of the more powerful and well-known demons. Indeed, among them is King Paimon, who is undoubtedly one of the more sought-after entities among occultists. This is probably due, in part, to the film Hereditary. I haven’t seen this movie myself, because mainstream portrayals of demons as ‘dangerous’ is a crock of shit, but I suppose any publicity is good publicity ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯ .

Another possibility for King Paimon’s fame is that he is right near the front of the grimoires, coming in at number 9 in the Ars Goetia. In it, he described as:

… a Great King, and very obedient unto Lucifer. He appeareth in the form of a Man sitting upon a Dromedary with a Crown most glorius upon his head… This spirit can teach all Arts and Sciences, and other secret things. He can discover unto thee what the Earth is, and what holdeth it up in the Waters; and what Mind is, and where it is; or any other thing thou mayest desire to know.

The Ars Goetia (Mathers & Crowley edition)

He is known among occultists for being a complex character with multiple faces, and for imparting the sort of gnosis that a true Seeker of mysteries finds so valuable on his/her spiritual path.

My experience with King Paimon

This is probably the first time I have received knowledge from an entity without performing a formal invocation ritual. King Paimon captured my attention for about a week or two, during which I studied his history, attributes, and the experience of other occultists who have worked with him. I merely spent some time contemplating him and his egregore.

As a result of that reflection, I would say that his image of a red-wearing Arabic King is accurate.

I had a vague idea of what I wanted to ask him – a deeper knowledge of magick – but hadn’t really formulated anything specific.

King Paimon guided me to information that turned my entire approach and intent toward my magickal practice upsidedown. I found myself consuming episodes of Aeon Byte Gnostic Radio podcast, specifically a series of lectures concerning Lucifer, the Watchers and the purpose of Qliphothic initiation. The guest in this series, David Block, shares with precise and rigorous attention to detail, his deep understanding of the esoteric history of humanity, referencing cross-cultural mythologies (Sumerian, Greek, and Norse), gematria, Qabalah, and modern film.

Although I already possessed an intuitive understanding of the inversion and socio-cultural programming that has plagued our society since ancient times, the demiurgic dynamics of the cult of Yahweh that continue to this day, and the fear-mongering against the Left-Hand Path ( demons as ‘evil’), I never fully appreciated the depth or profundity of it all until now.

I’ve since been in contact with David, who is most generous with his time and knowledge. This post is therefore as much a shout out to him and his work (I have provided links below), as it is a public praise for King Paimon for guiding me to it.

Although I don’t feel quite ready to set foot onto the Qliphothic tree just yet (it’s a fucking big commitment), contemplating and reflecting upon it as a concept has kept me well busy of late. When you go down such a deep rabbit hole, it’s important to spend some time consolidating the downloads you receive. It can be overwhelming at times.

Working with King Paimon

Like I said above, I’ve not formally reached out to King Paimon in a ritual. Interestingly, I’ve been working more exclusively and more often with Lucifer. For the sake of completion, however, and to provide a starting place for anyone who came here looking for ritual information regarding King Paimon, here are some specifics.

  • Mantra: Lidan tasa jedan Paimon
  • Day: Sunday
  • Planet: The Sun
  • Element: Air (for gnosis), Water (for emotional understanding).
  • Colour: Red or Blue.
  • Incense: Sandalwood
